Where adventure meets adrenaline… and occasionally a bougie hotel robe.
Hi there, fellow wanderluster! I’m Shannon Asbach—ER nurse by trade, travel junkie by passion, and the proud co-founder of Asbach Travel Co. I met my best friend 18 years ago, married him in 2010, and together we’ve built a life that’s equal parts chaos, charm, and carry-on luggage.
We’re your classic ER nurse–firefighter love story. You know, the kind that starts with trauma and ends with tropical vacations. Our bond was forged in the fires of emergency medicine and fanned by a mutual obsession with travel. Over the years, we’ve zigzagged across the globe—from bougie resorts with towel origami to primitive campsites where the only room service was a raccoon stealing our snacks.
We raise our kids with the same spirit of adventure (and a healthy respect for duct tape and granola bars). Our family motto? “Leave them with memories, not just money.” So far, we’re nailing the memory part—especially the ones that involve questionable transportation choices and surprise weather events.
That brings me to why this blog exists. I’m convinced I was a travel agent in a past life. Planning vacations is my love language. I live for spreadsheets, packing cubes, and the thrill of finding the perfect Airbnb with just enough weirdness to make it memorable.
Asbach Travel Co is our way of sharing the magic. This blog is where we’ll recap our trips—complete with itineraries, timelines, and the occasional “what not to do unless you enjoy mild panic.” Some stories are just meant to be shared… and the ones that aren’t? Well, they’re usually too funny not to.
You’ll also find links with gear we’ve tested, loved, or regretted buying. We promise honest reviews—because no one deserves to hike 12 miles in socks that feel like sandpaper.
I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re planning your next big escape or just living vicariously through our travel chaos, I hope you find this blog helpful, hilarious, and maybe even a little healing (yes, that was a bone joke—occupational hazard).
Let’s make some memories together. Buckle up—it’s going to be a wild ride.
